Makeing engaging video that also informs can be tricky: you don’t want to put your viewer to sleep but you need to get your messages across. Let’s look at how you can do that effectively by considering your video infographics.
Why Use Infographics
You might be making a marketing video, a presentation for work, or simply just need to include some facts and figures in your video, and you want to do that in as visually an engaging way as you can.
Infographics can sound boring, but we just need to think about it creatively. It’s all about storytelling in the same way as regular video, but with facts and data rather than footage or stills. Video infographics go much further than, say, a more traditional PowerPoint presentation. You can create something interesting that people will remember long after they’ve watched your film.

How to Create Infographics for Video
Know Your Audience
This will come of no surprise to you, it’s the same with all video, but… know your audience! More than that, know what you want from the video, what is it you want your viewer to take away once they’ve seen your infographic?
Think About Narration
Sometimes visuals of data can be a little overwhelming on their own, even with fancy sound effects. Think about some complimentary narration to help explain what your audience is seeing. People take in information in different ways, and many people will absorb facts better when they hear them spoken, as well as seeing them on screen.
Understand the Types of Visual Display
Just picking any old graph or diagram to display your data can actually have an adverse effect. We’ve become accustomed to seeing certain information displayed in a particular way; for example we know that maps are usually to show something geographical, graphs are often best for comparisons, and so on.
Putting it All Together
A bit like putting any video together, it helps to arrange your information into an appropriate order, whether that’s chronological, a timeline, or by data type. Only once you’ve got your information present and correct can you really begin to enhance it visually.

Try a Template
Using a video template to create your infographic video will save a lot of time, and it’s easy to make small changes to get the template looking right for your video. There are lots of infographic templates to choose from at Envato Elements, and you can download as many as you like once you’ve subscribed. Here’s a great example:
