How to Choose Which Photos to Include in Your Portfolio

Read Time: 2 min

As a photographer, images are just the start. How do you decide which are your best photographs? How do you selectively choose the best that represent your style, and then what’s the best way to display those in a portfolio to someone who may not be familiar with your work?

Now that you’ve decided what kind of portfolio (or portfolios) you want to create, it’s time to decide what photographs to include, and what to leave out. There might be some photos you like or are emotionally attached to, but it doesn’t mean they’re suitable for your portfolio.

The lesson will look at what you might need for each portfolio and how to be methodical and efficient, so that the selection process doesn’t become daunting. You might want to create a master folder and break that down by subject. We’ll look at evaluating your photographs against your goals and objectives for each portfolio.
