In video production, the process of selecting music for projects can be tricky. While there are plenty of great tracks available on sites like AudioJungle that might fit your requirements, another interesting route is to create your own.
Our new course, Creating Custom Music Cues for Video, will teach you to create simple, effective cues in a short amount of time.
What You'll Learn
Tuts+ instructor Dave Bode will teach you how to create a custom music cue to use behind video projects. The processes and skills you learn in this course will help you to create cues in many different styles and genres.
All you need to pull this off is a basic understanding of audio recording, a midi keyboard, a mic, and a friend who knows how to play a bit of guitar. We’ll fill in all the other instruments using a combination of free plugins and inexpensive virtual instruments. Once you see how simple this is, you will wonder why you have never done it before!
Here's a free preview of some of the lessons from this course:
Recording Acoustic Guitar
Even if you don't know how to play guitar, you can probably find a friend (or a friend of a friend) who does. In this lesson, you'll learn how to record some music for your cue using some really basic equipment like a portable recorder and metronome.
Editing Acoustic Guitar
Now that you have recorded your acoustic guitar, it is time to chop it up and edit it together. In this lesson you will see how to quickly adjust any timing issues and comp all the chords together for a fantastic-sounding stereo guitar track.
Adding Virtual Instruments: Drums
To add percussion, you don't need a drum kit—virtual instruments are a great way to fill out the sound. With the wide selection of drum libraries on the market, you have an incredible selection of perfectly recorded drums with just about all the articulations you could ever need! In this lesson you will learn how to add drums to the mix by programming a simple pattern and dialing in the drum sound.
