Photo Critique #201

by
Length:ShortLanguages:

Friday Photo Critique is our weekly community project, where we publish a photograph submitted by one of our wonderful readers, then ask you all to offer constructive feedback on the image. It’s a great way to learn more about photography, express your viewpoint, and have your own image critiqued!

Quick Ground Rules

  1. Play nice! We’ve deliberately chosen photographs that aren’t perfect, so please be constructive with any criticism.
  2. Feel free to offer any type of advice – composition, lighting, post-processing etc.
  3. You can also link to photographs that you feel offer a great example of this type of image shot exceptionally well.

Without further ado, here is this week’s candidate for Friday Photo Critique!

I just recently bought my first camera ever, an EOS 650D and took it with the kit lens for a trip to Rome and Barcelona last month. I'm a professional graphic designer and a complete novice in photography so what I do most of the time is use the program mode aperture and shutter speed suggestions and then edit the RAW file to my liking to compensate my lack of knowledge when shooting.

On the photo you can see St. Peter's Basilica from the Tiber. It's a shot, I just googled, that was taken millions of times. As a designer I'm really drawn to landscapes and architecture, the geometry and composition of an image and that's exactly what I like about this one.
