Just because you didn’t get to go to that awesome photography conference doesn’t mean that you can’t learn something from the pros! Occasionally, we’ll be featuring a recommended photography lecture or interview on Phototuts+.
R. Umar Abbasi is a freelance photographer for the New York Post. He received a lot of attention for his recent cover shot. His photo depicts a man about to be hit by a subway train moments after being pushed onto the tracks. This situation has brought into the public eye the ethical dilemmas faced by photojournalists today, and has brought out into the open some of feelings the public often has for the media.
You can read an in-depth take on the situation of the photo itself and the backlash Abbasi received at the Poynter Institute website.
