by
Difficulty:BeginnerLength:QuickLanguages:

Red eye correction is a very common retouching request. Red eye happens when light from a camera's flash is reflected from the rear surface of a person's eye and back to the camera. Luckily, it's pretty straight-forward to correct. In this short video tutorial you'll learn to two techniques for correcting red eye: one quick and basic, one slightly more advanced.

I'll start by showing you how to use the Red Eye Tool in Adobe Photoshop, and then show you a manual method that you can use as an alternative. I'll explain the pros and cons of each method, and show you the results so that you can compare them.
