International Literacy Day’s aim is to improve world literacy rates. It started in 1966 when UNESCO declared that the 8th of September would be used to highlight and improve literacy skills. The first ILD was celebrated in 1967 but even now more than 617 million children and young people aren’t meeting expected literacy levels.
To help raise awareness of ILD, we’re encouraging you to create inspirational videos to help young people improve their literacy. That might be encouraging them to read a favourite book of yours, it might be making a video to promote reading and language courses and classes in your area, or special programmes that you’ve organised.
To help you get started, here are three great templates from Envato Elements.
